JANUARY 2012 - V.24/RS232-INTERFACE
Industrial applications often uses V.24/RS232 interface because of durable used system/ auxiliary equipments. But the V.24/RS232 interface is often not available at commercial PC/Laptop and a USB/Serial adapter will be used. RS485/RS422 interfaces can be used with some USB/Serial adapters.

In this case please consider that a USB 2.0 connection can supply max. 500mA (High power) or 100mA (Low power) at 5 V for the USB adapter only. A RS485 driver e.g. LTC1481 can supply a maximum driver current of 250mA, in order to reach the maximum RS485-Performance.

Due to cost reason many USB/Serial adapters have no galvanic insulation and endanger thereby the expensive PC hardware. A discharge of disturbances by protection diodes is unusual.

Hedin Tex interface converters RS232/RS485/20mA with galvanic insulation and protection from lighting and excess voltage in 19? rack, DIN rail and table top version. The asynchronous short haul modems guarantees an error free data transmission up to a distance of 21 kilometres by using the RS232 /V.24 - interface. The interface converter M-4 will be used for a RS484/RS422 to V.24/RS232 transmission.

Please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email if you have some questions - you are welcome.
